PACT Bringing your Prison Play Area to Life Forum

Tuesday 13 March 2012 - Y Theatre, Leicester

Tuesday 8 May 2012 - St Michael’s Church Office, Bristol

Our Kids VIP team will be running two more of their free 'Bringing your Prison Play Area to Life’ Forums on March 13th at the Y Theatre in Leicester and at St Michael’s Church Office in Bristol on May 8th.

The last Forum, which was attended by prison Play staff and volunteers from around the country, involved lots of engaging talks, activities and a great opportunity to network. Highlights included Sue Smith and Jenny Abbott from Salford libraries giving a talk on inspiring books and related activities that could be used for different ages; Janet Harrison from Booktrust telling the group about The Bookstart Bear club, and their new website which has downloadable resources; and an excellent interactive ‘Making Ways with Waste’ workshop run by Lydia Northall from Grumpy in Salford, which involved creating things with recycled scrap and new materials.

Attendees were very pleased with the day:

“Thank you for another lovely day” - Play Co-ordinator HMP Long Lartin

“More please! Fabulous opportunity to meet like minded and very special people” - Quality Compliance Officer POPs

“Has been a very lovely course and very informative. Will be taking a lot of ideas back with me.” Playworker POPs

“Valuable to have chance to meet people from other prisons” Play Volunteer Wealstun
