Catch22's Chief Executive addresses partnership with Serco in an interview by Third Sector magazine.
In the interview Chris Wright explains Catch22's 'one assessment, one case worker, one relationship' principle, and the focus on ensuring the right conditions for prisoners to reintegrate into normal life and minimise reoffending - a role many charities have had in penal institutions for years.
Catch22 deliver offender management services within Thameside and Doncaster prisons in an Alliance with Serco and Turning Point. In the interview Chris explains that the partnership is based on a long-standing and positive relationship with Serco. He says:
' ... we're treated with respect and regard. When we bid, we bid as a partnership, and we contribute to operational solutions. The work we're delivering is designed by us and funded by Serco.'
Although there have been reservations about the contract from some parts of the voluntary sector, Chris makes clear the need at this time for charities to partner with private providers if they want to deliver larger contracts.
