A study analysing the data collected during the effective bail scheme pilot in Yorkshire and Humberside.
by Dr Anthea Hucklesby, Kara Jarrold, and Eleana Kazantzoglou of the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies, University of Leeds.
This study provides an analysis of the monitoring data collected as part of the pilot, in Yorkshire and Humberside, of the Effective Bail Scheme (EBS), which provides support and accommodation to adult defendants.
The authors recommended a more centralised system to allow for consistency of monitoring, to provide data which can be examined further to provide information on the characteristics of the caseload, and to assist in developing EBS. A more consistent approach would strengthen links with agencies providing support such as drug and other intervention programmes.
