Working as a Probation Officer

The Guardian live web chat: Working as a Probation Officer

There are few jobs with greater responsibility than being a probation officer — after all, their advice to court is often crucial in deciding whether or not a person is sent to prison.

And today, eight qualified probation officers and the head of probation training from the National Offender Management Service are taking part in a three hour live web chat for Guardian Careers - giving you the chance to get a real insight into working and training as a probation officer.

Our probation officers will be leading the expert panel from 1pm - 4pm today, and sharing their experiences of working in a role where you can really change the life of an offender for the better.

Join in the forum and see some of the questions put to our probation officers.

Web chat - Working as a probation officer, 15 September, 1pm—4pm

You can also find out more about probation work in the Ministry of Justice by reading an interview with probation officer Kelly Grice in the Guardian last month.
