Home Office Research Report 52: The Effectiveness of Partnership Working in a Crime and Disorder Context

Home Office Research Report 52 summarises the findings of a rapid evidence assessment which sought to summarise the evidence base on the effectiveness of partnership working in a crime and disorder context. The REA identified nine studies (assessed as Maryland Scale 3 or 4) from the United States which had as a core component of the intervention evaluated a partnership approach to tackling crime.

The report summarises the impact achieved by each intervention and the mechanisms identified as being associated with effective partnership working. The findings from the studies reviewed are mixed. However, on balance, the evidence suggests that the principle of applying effective partnership working as a component of initiatives to tackle complex crime problems is effective.
